Born: 8/25/1936
Died: 7/23/2021
Age: 84
Community: Columbus, OH

SINSEL, James Charles – age 84, formerly of Grand Blanc passed away peacefully on Friday, July 23, at Brookdale Trillium Crossing Senior Living in Columbus, Ohio.
James was born on August 25, 1936, in the Union community of Barbour County, West Virginia, the youngest child of the late Monzell M. and Verda B. (Ketchum) Sinsel. He married Shirley Jean Sell in 1958 and subsequently moved to the Flint area, where they resided until 2017.
Mr. Sinsel was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Shirley, in April of this year; his parents; and all of his brothers - Boyd, Gerald, Denzil, Brady, Adrian, Ivan, Junior, and Thomas Sinsel – as well as their wives.
James is survived by his daughter, Amy Jo, and husband Joseph Michtich of Delaware, Ohio; grandsons, Michael Michtich of Grapevine, Texas and Luka Michtich; sisters-in-law, Sandra (Sell) Cassady of Lancaster, Ohio, and Marie (Mixson) Sinsel of Yemassee, South Carolina; as well as many loved nieces and nephews and extended family.
Jim retired from General Motors in 1994 after three decades of service across various locations. After retirement, he and his wife wintered in Las Vegas frequently and enjoyed regular visits with their daughter and her family.
He was an avid major league baseball fan, had the “slot machine itch”, enjoyed socializing with the neighbors, classic cars, and loved working in his yard - ensuring perfect mowing stripes every time. Most importantly though, he never met a stranger. James will be remembered for being full of energy, his sly wit, his love of family, always remembering where he came from, and his constant perseverance to push on.
Mr. Sinsel attended the Bristol Road Church of Christ while living in Michigan. In 2017, James and his wife moved to Harrisonburg, Virginia, and ultimately, Columbus to be closer to their daughter’s family.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 28 from 12 Noon until the time of the service at 1:30pm at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 W. Hill Road, Flint, Michigan. Burial will follow immediately thereafter at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery in Grand Blanc. Elder Bill Thomason officiating.

In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to The Parkinson's Foundation or American Cancer Society.
