COCHRANE, Kristine Anne - Of Flint, formerly of Hilo, Hawaii, age 71, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her family.
Funeral service will be held at 4pm Thursday, May 15, 2025 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Father Jay Gantz officiating. Cremation will take place following the service.
Visitation 11am-3pm Thursday at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to the Special Olympics.
Kristine was born in Flint, Michigan on November 28, 1953, the daughter of the late J. Gerald and Jonell (Ragsdale) Garrow. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and graduated from Northwestern High School where she excelled as a writer for the school newspaper. After graduating from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, she became a successful stockbroker at the age of 25. She had wonderful careers with both Merrill Lynch and Oppenheimer brokerage firms. She later changed careers to teaching, working with special needs students, which gave her the satisfaction she had been looking for. Kristine was an avid reader and loved traveling. She had a wonderful zest for life. Kristine spent her last eight years teaching at the Kamehameha School in Keaau, Hawaii, then returning home for the birth of her great-granddaughter. Kristine was cherished and will truly be missed.
Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Sara Walter (Walter Redmond), her grandson, Adrian Walter, her great-granddaughter, Malia Simone Walter and her sister, Cynthia Garrow.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Elizabeth Garrow and her grandparents, Velma and Joseph Ethier and Elizabeth Garrow and aunt and uncle Barbara (Donald) Smith.
