WINGATE, Gloria Jean – Of Glen Burnie, Maryland, age 85, stepped into eternity on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at her daughter’s home in Grayling, Michigan after a short illness.
Funeral service will be held 12Noon Saturday, June 7, 2025 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Pastor Nathan Childs officiating.
Visitation 5-8pm Friday and 10am Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family.
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.
Gloria was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 9, 1939, the daughter of Martha Jurk. Gloria married Roger Wingate on October 10, 1959. Roger preceded her in death on February 16, 2000. Gloria worked for many years at Oakdale Regional Center in Lapeer, Michigan. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and crafting.
Surviving are her children, Anna (Dale) Childs of Kingston, MI, Carole Bailey (Roy Everage) of Grayling, MI, and Roger (Faith) Wingate of Glen Burnie, MD;
10 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren;
brother, Robert (Sharon) Smith of Avon Park, FL;
sister, Gerri (Dave) Broughman of Prescott, MI;
and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Martha and Albert Jackson, brothers, Fritz Smith and Harold Mitchell and 4 great-grandchildren.
