Owen, Joan G.- Of Bay City, formerly Clio, age 92, passed away peacefully Friday, January 14, 2022, surrounded by family and loved ones. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Thursday, January 20, 2022, at SS. Charles and Helena, 230 E. Vienna St. Clio – 48420. Rev. Father Ken Coughlin officiating. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday from 3PM until 8PM (prayer service at 7PM) at the funeral home, and on Thursday from 10AM until the time of service. The family has requested for mask to be worn. Memorial contributions may be made to McLaren Hospice Bay.
Joan was born April 2, 1929, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Edward and Ellen (Packard) Dahmer. She graduated from St. Joseph High School with the class of 1947. Joan was a member of the Red Hats Charlies Angels, Birch Run Moose Club #2426, and the Tuesday Morning Bridge Club. She was an active member of Saint Charles and Helena Church. Joan enjoyed playing cards, attending church bible studies, cooking, and entertaining. She was the best hostess some would say. Joan gave the biggest welcoming hugs and was generous with her love. Joan was often counted on for her faithful prayers. She loved her family and always put them above anything else. Above all Joan will be greatly missed by many.
Surviving are: Children: Donald (Linda) Fila, Janice (Vern) Botts, Ronald (Kathy) Fila and Richard (Cherie) Fila; Grandchildren: Kara (Eric) Mohr, Kayla (Steven) Houghteling, Nicole (Ken) Yaklin, Adam (Megan) Fila, Brittany (Beau) Anderson, Kelsey Fila, Justin Fila, Mark Fila, Andrew (Lindsey) Fila, Annie Fila and Peter Fila; 15 beautiful great grandchildren. She is preceded in passing by her former husbands: Frank J. Fila and James E. Owen, sister, Betty Cherry. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Charter Senior Living for their love and care for 4 years, and to McLaren Hospice Bay for all their compassion.
