NIEC, Chester “Chet” – of Linden, age 92, passed away October 30, 2019 at his residence. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton, MI 48430. Rev. Fr. Robert Copeland celebrant. Military Honors will follow the service. Visitation will be from 10:30 AM until time of service on Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Chet was born in Flint, MI on July 2, 1927, son of the late Michael and Wanda (Reszka) Niec. He married Eleanor Kalocy on May 8, 1948 and she preceded him in death on February 7, 1993. Chet proudly served his country with the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Fenton and loved to flip houses. Chet enjoyed dancing with this wife. He worked for GM before retiring in 1978.
Chet is survived by his sons, Mark (Liz) Niec and Dennis (Kim) Niec; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Lillian Nord; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, David.
