ABU-AITA, MOUNIRAH “MARY”
The world lost a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, aunt, and Godmother, Mounirah "Mary" Abu-Aita, on March 18, 2024.
Mary battled stomach cancer, but it never stopped her changing the world with her strength and loving kindness. Mary went home with the Lord surrounded by her children, Amir, Jacob, and Jordan.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 2024 at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 2143 South Center Road, Burton, Father Matthew-Peter Butrie officiating.
Entombment at Sunset Hills Cemetery-Chapel of Angels.
Visitation 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2024 and 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of the service at church.
A Trisagion Service will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday at church.
Mary was born in Jericho, West Bank, Palestine on November 5, 1960. She came to the United States at the young age of 3. She was an All-State basketball and Softball player during her high school years. She quickly transitioned into a successful entrepreneur, thereafter, building many empires. During her time as an entrepreneur and caregiver, she somehow found time to raise her children and coach them in many different sports. She had an extremely difficult life, but found the strength through the Lord to continue her journey. She has shown many people love, strength, support, and trust in the Lord - this was her legacy. She wants us all to continue her legacy by loving everyone unconditionally, being the strength for those who are weak, to show support to all whether they ask for it or not, and to trust in the Lord no matter what you going through. May our mother’s memory be eternal.
Mounirah (Mary) is survived by her four children, Amir(Rimi), Jacob, Jordan, and Amira(Craig), her grandchildren, Zayn and Isabella, her siblings, Henrietta(Issa), Frocene(Ken), Issa(Laila), Jim(Laurie), and Mike.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arturo and Afifeh.
