The family will receive visitors from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 16, 2021 and from Noon to 1 p.m. on Friday, September 17, 2021 at Allen Funeral Home.

Born on March 10, 1936 in Flint, MI, Zoe and Lee married on June 26, 1954. The two would spend the next six decades together, enjoying life and travel across the U.S. – from family visits in California to camping trips “Up North.” Their bond was unlike any other, and Lee – the man behind the camera’s lens – captured nearly all it through extensive videos and photos that perfectly catalogued the couple’s many adventures. From her infectious one-liners to her endless laughter, Zoellen “Zoe” Jackson was more than just a wife, mother, grandmother, sister or aunt – she was her family’s central bond, the glue that kept them together. Zoe and her husband Lee’s home was a gathering place – for anyone and everyone. You never had to call ahead to say you were coming, their door was always open. Coffee was always in the pot. Cokes were always in the closet. And once the welcome hugs and greetings were had, Zoe would head over to the dining room, flick on the lights, and settle in at her spot around the table, ready for whatever was on hand. The dining room table – a space where decades of memories were made. Where family feasts were shared on the holidays, tears were shed from jokes that induced belly laughs, and card and board games were played with gusto. (And for anyone who played cards with Zoe, they knew to keep them close to their vest – no one was safe from her rubbernecking.) Whether you visited for 20 minutes or 12 hours, Zoe would remain and entertain from her spot at the table until the last person packed up and left for the night. The family matriarch. The reason everyone “stopped by.”

Zoe is survived by her husband, Leland “Lee” Jackson; 4 children, Kim Westenberg (Jackson) and husband Rick, Leland Jackson Jr. and wife Tammy, Tim Jackson and wife Linda and Mike Jackson; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Beatrice McFall and 13 siblings.

There aren’t enough trees to produce the paper necessary to write all that Zoe was, and will continue to be, for those who had the honor to know and love her. She will be sorely missed, but her memory will live on through her infamous phrases and the stories we share.
