MORALES, Maria Elena Renteria - of Flint, Michigan, passed away Monday, July 19, 2021 at the age of 86 in New Braunfels, Texas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Friday, July 30, 2021 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 2316 West Coldwater Road, Flint, MI 48505; Fr. Paul Donnelly celebrant. Interment immediately following the Mass in Meadowview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors from 4-7 PM Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423 and 10-11 AM Friday, July 30, 2021 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. A Rosary will be prayed 6 PM Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Allen Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in memory of Maria Elena Morales.

Maria Elena was born in Tecuala, Nayarit, Mexico on August 13, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Juan and Maria Ines Renteria. Maria Elena married Jose Morales on February 17, 1962 in New Braunfels, Texas. Jose preceded her in death on September 1, 1986. Maria Elena retired after 15 years of service from the Central Kitchen of the Michigan Public School system. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Holy Rosary Catholic Churches. Maria Elena was a devout Catholic and loved to contribute to church activities. She was an excellent seamstress and cook. Maria Elena also loved to play Bingo and she enjoyed dancing and singing. In her early years, she taught Ballet Folklorico and Spanish at the International Institute of Flint. She loved to be with her family and travel to Mexico. Her love for Flint, Michigan as well as for Tecuala, Nayarit, Mexico was apparent every day.

Maria Elena is survived by 3 children, Roland (Cheri) Morales, Roberto “Bobby” Renteria Morales and Jose Angel “Pepe” (Sandra Alicia) Morales; 6 grandchildren, Rolando Miguel Morales, JoseLuis Trinidad Morales, Crystal Nicole Morales, Nicholas Antonio Morales, Marisol Ines Morales and Gabriela Alicia Morales; 6 great-grandchildren, John-Miguel Trinidad Morales, Jose Clemente Morales, Alan Isaiah Morales, Natalie Elizabeth Morales, James Romero Jr. and Elena Ann Romero; 2 brothers, Victor Hugo Renteria and Ruben Renteria; 2 sisters, Justina Renteria and Norma Pelayo; numerous loving family members, godchildren, friends, compadres and comadres. She was preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Maria Ines Renteria; her husband, Jose Morales; 4 brothers, Florencio Renteria, Concepcion Renteria, Juan Renteria and Gonzalo Renteria.
