Our mother, Mary Anne Morton, age 98, passed away peacefully February 16, 2026. The daughter of Frank and Anna Stedron, she grew up in the Detroit area and moved to Flushing where she graduated high school in 1945. Mom had a sister, Lorraine, and a brother, Donald.
Always a lover of music, Mom enjoyed playing the piano, flute and organ. In high school she contributed to the school newspaper, participated in band and the bowling team. But chief among her interests was high school sweetheart and future husband, our dad, Dave Morton. Together they raised us - Charles, Christina, Barbara and Denise. Ever cheerful and loving, Mom successfully balanced the demands of home life and 3 decades of managing the office of CJ Rogers Construction (formerly Utley).
Baker, seamstress, gardener and avid game player, Mom loved weekend drives with Dad in the country, watching Lawrence Welk on TV, and being an active member of the Auxiliary of the American Legion, Post 294. Known for her beautiful smile and bubbly laughter, we remember Mom as loyal, patient, thoughtful and supportive, always ready to listen and share her wisdom. Mom impressed upon us deeply the value of family; she loved her 7 grandsons, great grand-daughter and 4 great-grandsons.
Our heartfelt thanks to Mom’s caregivers, Sandy and Carla for their skillful and loving care.

A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Sharp Funeral Homes- Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road Swartz Creek, MI. Memorial visitation will take place at the funeral home on Sunday from 10AM until the time of service.
A celebration of life for Mary Anne will also be held at a later date.
