Colton, Douglas Scott, of Flushing, age 70, died Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at McLaren-Flint Hospital. Fr. Anthony Brooks will officiate a Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 30, 2018 at St. Robert Catholic Church of Flushing. There will be a gathering of family and friends directly after the Mass.
Doug was born in Flint, Michigan on April 5, 1948 to Fred and Dorotha (Heydlauf) Colton. He married his high school sweetheart, Joan (Lethbridge), on June 7, 1968 at St. Luke’s Church in Flint. Doug attended Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois, on a piano scholarship. Many years later, he still loved to play Beethoven. In spite of the fact that Joan is an avid Michigan State fan, Doug stayed true to U of M. He had a great sense of humor and loved to tell a funny story. Many of these stories were well polished and only slightly embellished. His generosity touched many people throughout his years as the owner of Best Images Printing and beyond. He will be missed by many.
Together with their children and grandchildren, Doug and Joan celebrated their 50th anniversary this summer on Mackinac Island. He is survived by Joan; his children, Brian (Jessica) Colton and Amy (Scott) Edmonds; grandchildren, Dylan Edmonds, Blake Edmonds, Theodore Colton, and Reid Colton; and sister, Susan (Ed) VanderWest. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Thomas Colton. |
