KINNEY, George – of Flint, age 71, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at his residence. A Memorial Service will be held 1 PM on Friday, August 15, 2025 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, Michigan 48423. Pastor Sarah LaRose-Nettell officiating. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service, beginning at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in George’s honor.
George was born in Flint, Michigan on August 6, 1953, son of Lincoln and Grace (Reed) Kinney. He attended Mount Morris High School, where he participated in track and field, graduating in 1972. He married Laura Barrett on March 17, 1979. They had four children, all of whom he loved deeply and was extremely proud of. He cherished his family, immediate and extended, wanting nothing more than for them to be healthy, happy, and safe. He was an avid sports and NASCAR fan; with the teams he supported being closely linked to his family’s connections to them. George enjoyed trivia and loved challenging his family while watching Jeopardy. He retired from GM in 2007 after more than 37 years of service.
George is survived by his daughters: Leslie, Kaylie, and Maggie; son, Aaron (Jennifer) Kinney; the mother of his children, Laura Kinney; grandchildren: Jolie and Stephen Timm; siblings: Suzanne (Eric) Anderson, Paul Kinney, and Nancy Kinney; and many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Grace Kinney, and brother, Joe Kinney.
