David Barry Lantz, of Linden, formerly of Fenton and Flint, passed away on March 26, 2026, at his home. He was 90 years old.
Born on March 23, 1936, in Fairview, Michigan, he was the son of Emerson and Hazel A. (Shrock) Lantz. David graduated from Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw in 1954, then went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering from Michigan State University in 1958. On September 7, 1957, he married Elaine Jean Inman in Saginaw and they spent 68 wonderful years together. David was a business owner for 12 years, owning Lantz, Griggs Inc., and later working as a civil engineer with SSOE Incorporated. He was active in the Michigan Society of Professional Engineers and the Michigan Society of Registered Land Surveyors. He was a member of the Fenton United Methodist Church and the Fenton Lion’s Club. After he retired in 1991, David enjoyed woodworking. He drove cancer patients to their treatments. With Elaine, he volunteered with the American Red Cross disaster relief services both locally and in other states.
He is survived by his wife Elaine J. Lantz of Linden, two sons Scott Lantz and Steven Lantz both of St. Paul, MN; his daughter Susan Roe and husband Mark of Panama; his daughter in law Kathy Lantz of Howell; his granddaughter Kelsey Lester and husband Ross, and his grandson Nathan Roe and wife Taylor; three sisters in law, Mary Beth Lantz, Gyl Lantz and Darlene Lantz; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by his son David M. Lantz, and by his three brothers, John, Terry and Dale Lantz.
A memorial service will be held on April 8, 2026, at 11:00 am at the Fenton United Methodist Church, 119 S. Leroy Street, Fenton, MI 48430, with Pastor Jeff Jaggers officiating. There will be visitation one hour prior to the service. A luncheon will follow the service.
