COOK, Gene “Animal” - Of Burton, age 70, passed away Friday February 13, 2026, at Henry Ford Genesys Hospital.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

Gene was born in Bourne, Massachusetts on February 13, 1956, the son of the late William and Jeanette (Perrin) Cook.
Gene was as strong as they came. A true protector of his family and friends. Someone you could always count on when it mattered most. His strength wasn't just physical; it was in his loyalty, steady presence, and the unwavering love he had for those closest to him. He was a proud Army veteran. Gene served his country with honor and dedication through both wartime and peacetime. That same work ethic followed him throughout his life and career as a truck driver and Owner/Operator traveling the roads that stretched across the United States. The miles he drove reflected his determination and resilience. But no matter how far he travelled, his heart was always with his family and home. Gene had a deep passion for motorcycles and the freedom of the open road. Riding and touring with his wife, Jennifer, brought him great joy. Together they created countless memories on highways and scenic routes across the country. Summers were especially dear to him, spent camping in northern Michigan, surrounded but friends, family, laughter, and the simple peace and beauty of nature. He was also a great lover of animals, especially his dogs. Above all, Gene was a family man. He leaves behind five children and three grandchildren who carry forward his strength, his values, and his love. He will be remembered for his courage, his devotion, and the powerful steady presence that made everyone around him feel safe and cared for. Gene was a proud member of Masonic Lodge #535, Kishma Grotto, and A.B.A.T.E. of Michigan Region 3.
