LAGUEUX, Jean Guy “John” – Of Flint, age 69, died in his sleep with his family by his side on Saturday, May 2, 2015.

He was born in St. Victor Quebec, Canada, son of the late Paul-Emile and Simone (Bernard) Lagueux of St. Georges, Quebec, Canada and had lived in Michigan for most of his life, he recently proudly received his US citizenship. Prior to his retirement, John was a contractor “A Jack of All Trades” his passion for building and working with his hands was sought-after. John assisted in building: Auto World, The Genesee Valley Mall, the 12 story addition onto McLaren Regional Medical Center, The Flint Job Corps and many other local landmarks in and around Genesee and Oakland Counties.

He was very proud of his work and was considered to be a Master Carpenter. John loved his Harley Davidson, classic cars, hockey, hunting and the outdoors. He enjoyed his annual trips to Bike Week in Daytona and sitting on the Siesta Key Beach in Sarasota, Florida with his sister and brother-in-law, Suzanne and Paul.

He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

John is survived by his son, Mike Lagueux of Grand Blanc, his daughter and son-in-law, Tracy (Lagueux) Lanphear and CJ Lanphear of Flint; three grandchildren, Simone Lagueux, Adam Lagueux and Abigail Lagueux; two brothers, Roger (Claudette Linteau) and Claude (Lucille Guay);

five sisters, Huguette (Germain Perreault), Suzanne (Paul Burns), Therese (Martial Doyon), Helene (Richard Lessard) and Francine (Marcel Brochu);

sister-in-law, Linda Lagueux;
brother-in-law, Alaine Champagne and a whole slew of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Henri-Paul Lagueux; sister, Jocelyn (Lagueux) Champagne and brothers-in-law, Germain Perreault and Marcel Brochu.

After cremation, ashes will be distributed into 10 wind chimes and delivered to six locations in Canada, one location in Sarasota, Florida and three chimes will stay in Michigan.

His remaining ashes will one day travel to Alaska to be sprinkled under the Aurora Borealis “The Northern Lights”.

Memorial Visitation 5 p.m. and a short prayer/memorial service for family and friends will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2015 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made payable to: abateregion20. 100% of the contributions will go to Bikin’ for Burns and can be dropped off at Swartz Funeral Home at the time of the memorial service or given to an immediate family member.
