Lothar was born in Wolgast, East Germany on September 9, 1948, son of the late Theodor and Ella (Reimer) vonDaggenhausen. He became a child of God through baptism shortly after his birth and was confirmed in his faith later in his youth. His parents and 5 siblings immigrated to the United States in 1957, and he proudly became a citizen of the U.S. on August 14, 2000. Lothar married the love of his life, Margo Dast, on April 3, 1982, in Pigeon, MI. They were blessed with 43 years together. Lothar was a gifted athlete and enjoyed playing softball, baseball, bowling and was an avid golfer. Later in his life, he shared his love of sports with the students of Good Shepherd Lutheran School as their basketball and softball coach. He truly enjoyed teaching them how to work together as a team. He worked as a Journeyman Glazer for various glass companies in the area, including over 20 years at Koerts Glass. Lothar boldly and confidently shared his faith with his family and friends and evangelized to everyone. He wanted everyone to know the love of their Lord and Savior. When he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2016, he used it as an opportunity to demonstrate his strength and faith in God’s plan for him. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Burton, MI for over 28 years, where he served on the school board, as a Sunday School teacher, elder and usher. After his faith, the most important thing in his life was his family. He enjoyed going places with them, especially Frankenmuth, attending their concerts, performances, sporting events and simply spending time with them. He was so proud of all of them, especially how they walk with Jesus.

Lothar is survived by his loving wife, Margo vonDaggenhausen; 3 children, Heidi (Randy) Hampton, Megan (Jon) Daunt and Stacy (Jordan) Schmitzer; 9 grandchildren, Jonah, Ellie and Caleb Hampton, Zoey, Willie and Ava Daunt, Zeke, Emma and Noah Schmitzer; 4 siblings, Horst (Charlotte) Kruger, Werner (Mary) vonDaggenhausen, Theodor (Lisa) vonDaggenhausen and Irmgard (Ralph) Oestman; sister-in-law, Karen vonDaggenhausen; many nieces, nephews, other loving family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodor and Ella vonDaggenhausen; brother, Klaus vonDaggenhausen; sister-in-law, Christa vonDaggenhausen and nephew, Dietrich.
