RUEDA, Mary Helen. – of Jackson, age 82, died Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at her residence with family by her side. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Mary at 11AM Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 2316 W. Coldwater Rd., in Flint. Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Monday from 1PM until 8PM and at the church on Tuesday from 10AM until the time of Mass at 11AM. A Rosary will be prayed at 6PM Monday evening at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the family for future designation.
Mary was born April 19, 1935 in Austin, Texas to the late Martin and Dominga (Martinez) Garza Sr. She married Santiago “Chago” Rueda August 3, 1956. He preceded her in death June 17, 1997. Mary was employed with Vasquez Food Market for several years. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Flint for 53 years. Mary enjoyed dancing, cooking, camping and playing Bingo. She was a huge Detroit Tigers fan. Mary loved taking trips to the casino and talking on the phone for hours at a time. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Surviving are: Children: Cornelio (Paula) Silvas; James (Maria) Rueda, Richard Rueda (Pat Castillo), Victor (Lena) Rueda, Gary (Tammy) Rueda; 22 grandchildren; Several great grandchildren; Brothers: Martin (Martha) Garza Jr., and Samuel Garza; Sisters: Herminia Sanchez, and Linda (Barney) Medrano; Special niece, Minnie Rendon; Several other nieces and nepews; Special sister in law, Sophia Garza; Loving furry companion, Lilla; Mary was also preceded in death by her sons: Richard Joseph Rueda, and Paul “Pablo” Silvas; Many brothers and sisters.
