Mervin S. Eggert, born December 24, 1947, passed away June 9, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. A Memorial Service will be held at 12PM on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Rev. Carol J. Freeland officiating. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday, July 24, 2025, from 12PM until 8PM and on Saturday from 11AM until the time of service at 12PM.

Merv was born to the late Sherman and Mary Eggert and was raised in Grand Blanc, Michigan. He went on to graduate from college and dedicated 32 years of hard work to General Motors before retiring.

In 1982, Merv married his beloved wife, Denise. Together, they built a life and family, moving to Flushing in 1984, where they made their home.

Merv found great joy in spending time with his grandchildren. He loved sharing his interests with them, especially fishing and bird watching, creating memories that will be treasured for years to come.

He also enjoyed attending and participating in gun shows, a pastime that reflected his many interests and the enjoyment he found in connecting with others. Merv will be remembered for his dedication to family, his strong work ethic, and the love he shared with those closest to him.

Merv will be deeply missed by his children: Susan, Joseph and Monica, Bradley and Laura; Grandchildren: Kadey and Kyle, Michelle, Ricardo and Zoe, Justice, Julius, Annalycia, Joseph, and Morgan; Great Grandchildren: Lyndsie, Emery, Ricardo, and Vera.

He will be lovingly remembered by his siblings: Don and Cathy, Janice and Dale, Bonnie and Jim, Pat and Tom, and Roger and Carrie, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Mary Eggert and Aleta and Joseph Gauthier; Son, Mark; Daughter, Brigette.

Special thanks to all family, friends, caregivers, and loved ones who offered comfort, support, and kindness during this difficult time. Especially his friend, Dave, and A & D hospice workers, Nicole and Tiara.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Merv’s memory.
