GRAY, Connie – of Genesee, age 73, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, November 12, 2014. She lived a life of love and service to her God, family, friends, church and community. A Funeral Service will be held 1 PM Monday, November 17, 2014 at East Flint Church of the Nazarene, 3515 N. Belsay Rd., Flint; Pastor Jason Crum officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be 5-8 PM Saturday, 1-8 PM Sunday. On Monday, visitation will be at the church from 12 PM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to East Flint Church of the Nazarene.
Connie graduated from Atherton High School in 1959 and went to work for the Bell Telephone company as a long distance operator. After several other secretarial positions, she settled into the Genesee Township Police Dept. as a secretary and dispatcher where she worked for 27 years and retired in 2003.
She was a woman of strong faith that couldn’t be contained by one church. Connie was actively involved in both Richfield Road Church of the United Brethren in Christ and East Flint Church of the Nazarene where she attended for many years and served in many different capacities including Board member. Connie was active in service to her community in different ways but her favorite was probably as a volunteer at the carousel at Crossroads Village, which she did for years.
Connie is survived in death by her daughter, Jill Guest (Kyle) and their children, Jessica and Garrett and son, Steve Gray (Joy) and their children, Max and Abby; nephew, Allan (Buzz) Lavere; niece Beth Hank (Dave). She also leaves behind her pride and joy: great-grandchild, Brinnley Harper Guest. She was preceded in death by her sister, Barb Lavere; mother, Hilda Ferguson. Connie left us a little earlier than expected but we take solace in the firm belief that she is rejoicing in the fellowship or her Lord and with her sister and mother.
