JOHNSON, Ronald F. “Ron” - Of Flint, age 90, died Thursday, May 8, 2025 at Willowbrook Manor.
Funeral service will be held 10am Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Father Roy Horning officiating.
Visitation 4-7pm Monday at the funeral home.
Burial in Thetford Township Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Ron was born in Flint, Michigan on October 18, 1934, the son of the late Edward and Harriet Johnson. He graduated from Flint Northern High School, Class of 1952 and then graduated from GMI. Ron proudly served in the United States Army in France. On June 19, 1965, Ron married Barbara Kern. He retired from General Motors AC Spark Plug as a Tool and Die Maker in 1993. Ron was a member of UAW #651 as well as a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church. Ron was a car and motorcycle enthusiast and above all else, he enjoyed time with his children and grandchildren.
Surviving are wife, Barbara;
Children, Edward Johnson of Flint and Veronica Johnson and husband Arnie Heier of Colorado;
Grandchildren, Tyler Kalanquin, Kelly Kalanquin and Nicholas Johnson;
Brother-in-law, Bob Kern;
Sisters-in-law, Pat Kern and Jeanne LeClair;
And several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, LouAnn Kalanquin.
