MITCHELL, Mildred M. "Aunt Mid" - of Flint, age 100, died Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2PM Friday, September 2, 2016 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Chaplain Goodman Cox officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday from 1PM until the time of service at 2PM. Contributions may be made to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation.
Mildred was born July 9, 1916 in Aurora, Missouri to the late Thomas and Florence (Collins) Ripper. She married her beloved Joseph O. Mitchell on October 18, 1940. He preceded her in death November of 1964. Mildred was employed with Sunset Hills Cemetery for 25 years before retiring in 1999. She was independent all her life and enjoyed staying active and helping others. Though she had no biological children, Mildred was a mother, grandmother and aunt to many. She passed peacefully with her great niece, Laurie and Scott Schmidt by her side. Mildred was loved by so many and will be greatly missed.
Surviving are: Nephew, Clayton Lawson of Clio; Many other loving nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Mildred was also preceded in death by her 1 brother; 7 sisters and her good friend, Zelda Smith, who are now all reunited in Heaven.
