Age 65, of Burton, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at Henry Ford Genesys Hospital. He was born on February 16, 1961 to Chester and Margaret (Brewer) McNiel. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and he will be laid to rest at sea at a later date. Dennis was a beloved father to Ami (Jason) Redick and Ambur McNiel; grandfather to Jadyn McNiel and Kaylynn Balanowski; brother to Suzann (Bryan) Matthews and Chester McNiel Jr.; and uncle to many cherished nieces and nephews. He resided in the Burton and Flint areas all his life. He worked as a cook for many years, beginning his career at just 16-years-old. He worked at Palace Coney Island, Jesters, and ended his career at Tom’s Coney Island. Upon retiring from his work as a cook, he went back to work for Premier Security, where he worked until the day of his passing.
In his younger years, he loved playing in his band, The Trend. He also found joy in riding his Harley motorcycle, camping, collecting coins, and spending time creating new memories with his family.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Margaret McNiel; his brothers, Robert Brewer and Jeffery McNiel; his sister, Kim McNiel; and his niece, Heather Hendrickson. |
