Bobalik, Patricia A. “Pat” of Flushing, age 78, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2018, at McLaren-Flint. A Funeral Divine Liturgy will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 1, 2018, at St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church, Flushing. The Very Rev. James J. Batcha officiating. Burial will follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Flint. Visitation will be at Rossell Funeral Home in Flushing on Friday, from 12-3 and 5-8 p.m. with a Parastas service at 7 p.m. and Saturday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the Liturgy, with a 9:30 a.m. Panachida service. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or St. Michael Byzantine.
Pat was born in Flint, February 18, 1940, daughter of the late Józef and Anna (Slagor) Skarbek. She graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic High School in Flint and earned her nursing certificate at St. Joseph/Flint School of Nursing in 1962. Pat was united in marriage with Andrew Bobalik on April 12, 1969, at St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church in Flint. She was employed as an LPN for more than 30 years in the nursery at St. Joseph Hospital, retiring in 1998. Pat enjoyed taking care of the babies in the nursery throughout her career, collecting nursing figurines, and playing Scrabble. She was an extremely generous and giving person, always there to help in any way. Very proud of her Polish heritage, she enjoyed carrying on the tradition of making pierogi. She was a member of Dom Polski of Flint, former member of the All Saints Rosary Society, and past president of St. Robert Seniors. She had a strong faith in God and was a longtime member of St Michael Byzantine Catholic Church, previously teaching Eastern Christian Formation (ECF) classes.
Pat was a loving wife and mother and is survived by her husband of forty-nine years, Andrew Bobalik; children, Andrew (Kelly) Bobalik of Flushing, James Bobalik of Rochester Hills, and Anne Marie (Troy) Bobalik of Flushing; brother-in-law, Dale E. Lipar of Caro and his children, Dr. Joseph (Leah) Lipar of Big Rapids and David (Michelle) Lipar of Simsbury, CT; great-nieces and nephews, Annika, Alekzander, Jonah and Stella; aunt, Marcella (Jim) Delecki and special cousin, Theresa Delecki of Flushing; numerous Godchildren and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her sister, Joanne M Lipar. |
