Mary Beth Dixon, 84, of Aledo, Il formerly of Joy, Il died Monday March 21, 2011 at the Mercer County Nursing Home in Aledo. Services are 11:00 AM Friday at the Joy United Methodist Church. Visitation is from 4 – 7 PM Thursday at Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo where a memorial service will be conducted by the Mercer County VFW Post 1571 Auxilliary. Cremation will follow the services and private burial will be Saturday in the Peniel cemetery. Memorials may be left to the Joy Volunteer Fire Dept. or the Joy United Methodist Church. She was born July 15, 1926 in Keokuk, IA to Paul and Maud Balmer Mulch. She attended the Joy schools and married Carl Dixon Jr. October 17, 1947 in Joy, IL. He died in 2004.
Mary Beth and her husband owned and operated Dixon Trucking in Joy retiring in 1995.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Joy and the Mercer County VFW Post 1571 Auxilliary. She loved flowers, gardening and being with her family.
She is survived by a daughter Marsha (Curtis) Coberly of Windsor, CO, 4 sons, Ed (Debby) Dixon of Edgington, IL, Bill (Laural) Dixon, Donald (Peggy) Dixon, Rae (Darla) Dixon all of Joy, 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren with 2 lovingly expected.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 1 daughter Nancy Dewitt.
