WOOD, Nancy L. (Lamb) age 78, left the loving arms of her family and was welcomed into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father and family on Friday, September 9, 2016.
Visitation 10am Thursday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be held 12pm Thursday, September 15, 2016
at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
with her nephew, Pastor John Dingman officiating.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Nan was born in Carbondale, Illinois on September 8, 1938, the daughter of Robert J. and Doloras (Zajicek) Whitman. She married John Wood in 1958 in Flint, Michigan and he preceded her in death. She was a resident of the Flint area for most of her life and was a summer resident of East Tawas. She was a longtime member of Bethany Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess and in the Nursery Ministry. Prior to that, her and John were charter members of the former Civic Heights Bible Chapel where they faithfully served. Nan was a stay at home wife and mother and in her later years worked as a care-giver for the elderly.
Nan leaves to cherish her Christian life and testimony, daughter, Denise and husband Jeff Jones of Grand Blanc;
Son, Robert and wife Karen Wood of Portage, MI;
G-Ma also leaves her six grandchildren, Brad Jones of Chesapeake, VA, Bart and wife Kayla Jones of Grand Blanc, Jillian Jones of Grand Blanc, Heather and husband Sgt. Cory Abbs of Fort Stewart, GA, Michael Wood and Corey Wood of Portage, MI;
Great grandsons, Joseph and Brayden Abbs and Carson Jones;
Sister-in-law, Nan (Dingman) Watson;
Several nieces, nephews and their families.
Nan’s Heavenly family includes her parents, beloved husband John, husband Ron Lamb, special friend Mort Henick and unborn great-grandchild.
The family wishes to acknowledge the compassionate care provided by Nathan’s Place, especially Tina, Debbie and all their staff; also her exceptional in home care-givers, Debra and Kathy.
