Mr. Kelly Bain Beardslee, of Flint, Michigan, passed away at McLaren Hospital on June 19, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born January 7, 1933, in New Lothrop, Michigan, to Alex and Harriet Beardslee. He graduated from Mt. Morris High School in 1950 and General Motors Institute in 1956. He married Joyce Ann Adamson in April of 1956 at First Presbyterian Church in Flint. He served 6 months in the Army in a Critical Skills program in 1956 and 1957.

Kelly worked at AC Spark Plug for 40 years, serving in several different management positions, retiring in 1991. He volunteered with the United Way while still employed and after retirement became deeply involved in community efforts working as a Big Brother, serving on the United Way board, and continued working with that organization in committee work. He tutored at Christ Enrichment Center then served on that board. He also served on the Resource Center board and while there did volunteer consulting helping several organizations in the community build strategic plans. He was awarded the 2002 Volunteer of the Year award by the Flint Human Relations Commission. He also received the Paul Harris Award from the Flint Rotary in 2010.

Kelly was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Flint, serving as an elder and working with several different committees, singing in the Chancel Choir, and ringing and directing handbell choirs.

Kelly loved life, enjoyed family, music, playing golf, sailing small boats, and traveling.

In this last year, Kelly and his wife Joyce established a fund to perpetuate student success entitled 'The Beardslee Student Success and Sustainment Endowment Fund at Mott Community College'.

Surviving are his wife Joyce; son Daniel and daughter-in-law Susan; three grandchildren: Laura, Daniel Il, and Alexander; brother-in-law Robert Kurtz; nieces: Deborah Ball, Laurie Schulz, and Kathy Thorsby; nephew Kevin Kurtz; and many cousins. The family is deeply grateful for care giver and family friend Sandi Menard of First Light Home Care for her years of attentive care and tireless service to both Kelly and Joyce, especially in Kelly’s last days.

The family will greet friends from 3:00pm until 8:00pm on Friday, June 25, 2021 at Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E. Hill Rd., Grand Blanc. A celebration of Kelly's life and legacy will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 26 at First Presbyterian Church of Flint, 746 S. Saginaw St., Flint. Visitation at church from 10:00am until time of service. Kelly will be inurned at the First Presbyterian Church Columbarium at a future date.
