Eugene passed away peacefully on Monday, October 6, 2025, while under the care of Symphony Tri-Cities. He was 100 years young. Eugene Herbert Miller was born October 20, 1924, in Saginaw, to the late Ralph and Amanda (Rupp) Miller.
Eugene was born in Saginaw on October 20, 1924, and stayed in the Saginaw area for much of his life. After graduation from high school, he attended what was then General Motors Institute and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering in 1949. He returned to also earn a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1951. He continued to support assorted projects at what is now Kettering University for the rest of his life. After graduation, Eugene was hired to work at General Motors. He worked in many capacities in different areas of the General Motors Corporation. His last job was serving as the Senior Buyer for Cadillac Motors.
Eugene had many other activities throughout the years. He was very avid about community theatre, serving many terms on the board of Flint Community Players as well as acting, directing, and almost every other aspect of theatre at that location. He enjoyed attending productions at other theatres around the state and while traveling. A part of that passion was attending the annual conventions of the Community Theater Association of Michigan for years. He served on their board including terms as their chair. Eugene also served on the Board of the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Council for many terms.
During his last illness, he was “adopted” by a few of his close friends, who provided the support that normally comes from a family. Many thanks to Rick Doll, Cyndi and Doug Hislope, Destiny and Brian Howey, Ken Larson, Nancy and Bill Szikszay for their assistance in making his final months more comfortable.
The Celebration of Eugene’s Life will be held 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the Wakeman Funeral Home, Inc. 1218 N. Michigan Ave., Saginaw, MI. Rev. Christina Schultz will be the officiant. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Eugene will be laid to rest next to his parents in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Saginaw.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Flint Community Players, Kettering University, and the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Council were particularly special for him. If you are interested in supporting their programs, here is where they can be reached:
