Patricia Maxine Wykes, of Gaines, Michigan, passed away on August 28, 2026, in Swartz Creek, Michigan, at the age of 88.
Born on August 19, 1938, in Gaines, Michigan, to Guy and Bertha Slocum, Patricia grew to live a full and wonderful life centered on love, family, devotion, and steadfast care for those closest to her.
Patricia was a graduate of Mary Crapo High School in Swartz Creek, Michigan, class of 1946. She became a dedicated homemaker and, together with her beloved husband, Gilbert, raised their three boys while running a tight ship at home. She dedicated her whole life to her sons, and that devotion was felt in the countless daily acts of care, guidance, and sacrifice that shaped her family’s life. She was there through all of her sons’ baseball and basketball games, offering her steady presence and encouragement with the kind of love that never needed to call attention to itself.
She will be remembered as an extremely devoted mother and wife, joyful in spirit, selfless in heart, and caring in every season of life. Patricia had a great sense of humor and put her family above all else. She also shared happy times with her husband as part of a square-dancing club in Gaines, Michigan, a reflection of the companionship and enjoyment they built together over the years.
Patricia leaves behind a loving family who will carry her memory forward with gratitude and affection. She is survived by her sons, Mark (Michele) Wykes, Scott (Barbara) Wykes, and Guy (Michelle) Wykes. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michael (Nichole), Mathew (Nichole), Mary Alicia (Justin), Cal (Madison), Carly (Ben), and Nicole, along with 10 great-grandchildren who were part of the family she cherished so deeply. The love she gave so freely lives on in each of them.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert John Wykes; her father, Guy Harold Slocum; her mother, Bertha May Slocum; and her sister, Grace Bennett.
In accordance with Patricia's wishes, cremation has taken place, and no services are being held at this time.
Patricia’s life was a beautiful example of unwavering love, family loyalty, and quiet strength. She will be deeply missed and tenderly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
