Sandra Elliott
Sandra was born on September 20, 1949, in Cadillac, Michigan to Donald and Margaret Nantelle and was the little sister to Robert and William Nantelle. She was raised in Mt. Pleasant where she graduated from Mt. Pleasant Senior High School, class of 1968 and went on to graduate from MJ Murphy Beauty College in Mt. Pleasant.
Shortly after graduating from beauty college Sandra married her high school sweetheart Fred, and they moved to Perry where they bought a home and raised two children Marc and Amy. Sandra owned and operated Sandy’s unisex beauty shop out of the family home for several years.
One of Sandra’s favorite jobs was driving buses for Perry Public Schools for over twenty years. This 5-foot tall, little lady that could barely see over the steering wheel was a tough bus driver. All the students seemed to love her even though everyone had assigned seats.
Sandra was a very caring person with a hard core. Sometimes you just had to peel back the hard core to get to the good part, but it was worth it. She cared about everyone she met, and she would give you the shirt off her back. Her love for knitting and crocheting that she learned from her mom, she was able to share with others. A few times a year she would take the time to make hats for the local hospital and take them to the nursery for the newborns. Not only did she make adorable hats, but she made amazing sweaters, and other things. Growing up I think all her kid’s friends had hats, mittens, and slippers for the entire year.
While Marc and Amy were growing up Sandra was very involved. If she was not sitting on the sidelines cheering them on, she was coaching them on one of the many sport teams they were on. She volunteered for a few years as a cub scout leader and girl scout leader. She was a chauffeur for the kids and their friends taking them to practices, to friend’s houses, and to wherever else they needed to go to.
Sandra loved her children, and grandchildren. The time spent with them meant the world to her. From camping trips, going to NASCAR, cookouts, making cookies, doing crafts, canning, watching Hallmark movies, watching westerns, doing puzzles, or just general conversation she loved just spending time with all of us.
She is a fighter, back in the early 90’s she battled breast cancer and beat the odds. The last five years she has been battling with Alzheimer’s and unfortunately the disease took this amazing lady from us but not the memories.
Sandy leaves behind her daughter Amy (Paul) Constine, son Marc Elliott; brothers Robert Nantelle, William (Bonnie) Nantelle; grandchildren McKenzie (Trevor) Langdon, Kylee (Justin) Van Buren, Dakota (Hunter) Piper, Justin (Ilaria) Constine, Courtney (Jordan) Constine, Kevin Larsen, Matt Larsen, Crystal Elliott, Ashton Van Buren, Everest Langdon, and Sofia Constine. Also leaving behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Predeceased by her parents Donald and Margaret Nantelle, and Ex-husband Fredrick Elliott.
