Frank James Balcer Jr., age 85 of Corunna passed away Saturday, July 19, 2014 at his home.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Watkins Brothers Funeral Home, Corunna Chapel, with Pastor Dale Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Wilkinson Cemetery in Venice Twp. Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
Frank was born on August 21, 1928 in Flint, MI, the son of Frank James Sr. and Caroline (Thompson) Balcer. He was a graduate of Millington High School and served in the U.S. Army. On August 30, 1957 he married Lillian Montney in Lapeer, MI and she predeceased him in 2005. He was retired from General Motors in Flint and was a charter member of North Flushing Baptist Church.
Frank is survived by five children; Everett (Thelma) Durham, Joseph (Rita) Durham, Denise (Lloyd) Putman, Frank Balcer and Richard Balcer, daughter-in-law; Jeanette Balcer, 18 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and one brother; Gerald J.(Shirley) Balcer. He is predeceased by sons Stanley Durham and Gerald Balcer, granddaughter; Siobhan Durham, great-grandchild; Cameron Ray Karrer, sisters; Evelyn, Dorothy, Ilene and Eleanor, brother; Richard and daughter -in-law: Kathy Balcer.
