Coggins, Michael - Of Grand Blanc, age 88, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2026.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10am, Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 11804 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc,
Father Joseph Krupp and Father Bernard Owens co-officiating.
Visitation 4-8pm Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. A Rosary will be prayed at 7pm at the funeral home. Visitation 9am Thursday at church until the time of the Mass.
Those desiring, may make contributions to Holy Family Catholic Church, St. John Vianney Church or Powers High School.
Michael was the youngest of 10 children, one brother and eight sisters, of Alphonso and Mabel Coggins. He was born on August 5, 1938, in Flint, Michigan. He graduated from St. John Vianney High School, Class of 1956. He attended Flint Junior Collage and retired from General Motors with over 40 years of service. On July 2, 1960, he married Elizabeth Theodoroff. They had two children, son, Thomas (Tamara) Coggins and daughters, Kristine Coggins; grandchildren, McKinsey Henderson, Kelsey Ferry, and Brandon (Jessica) Coggins; great-grandchildren, Gotham, Slaze, Kylie, Jayden, and Maddox. His wife and son are in heaven. Michael was close to our gracious God, loved the Eucharist, had a close group of friends; met monthly with alumni group at St. John Vianney for lunch; served with Holy Family ushers at Saturday evening mass, prayed daily with a special group, and attended 8:00 a.m. mass followed with breakfast; and volunteered at Ascension Genesys Hospital in the nursery and Holy Family Parish garden for years with friends, planting, tending flowers and vegetables for distribution by Outreach to those in need, and was a 36 year member of the Knights of Columbus. |
