Sloop, Donald E. age 80 of Linden, MI passed away February 9, 2016 at Genesee Care Center. Funeral service will be held 11:30 am, Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Dodds Dumanois Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 901 Garland St. Flint, MI. Family will receive visitors from 5-8 pm Monday, February 15, and from 10:30 am until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery 1:30 pm. Chaplain Hank Messing officiating. Don was born and raised in Kannaplis, NC. He was joined in marriage to Joyce Brigham 57 years ago in Flint and worked for GM Metal Fabrication Division for 44 years, retiring in 2001. He worked for Cannon Mills in Kannapolis, NC before moving to Flint to work for GM. He was a member of UAW Local 659. Don proudly served in the United States Army. He loved classic cars and watching Nascar, corny jokes and he loved animals, especially cats. Don is survived by his wife Joyce, children Teri (Tom) Hudson, Michael (Michelle) Sloop, sister-in-law Susie Sloop and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Lexie Sloop, sister Bernice Daniels, brothers Paul and Everette Sloop, his mother and father-in-law Jennie and Carlton Brigham.
