COLLINS, Gerald A. “Jerry” – Of Fenton, age 75, died Saturday, November 9, 2019 at his residence.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, November 15, 2019 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, Reverend Father Andrew A. Czajkowski officiating.
Cremation will take place following the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Visitation 3-8 p.m. Wednesday and 12-3 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Collins will be at the church from 10 a.m. Friday until the time of the Mass.
Jerry was born in New Kensington, PA on February 7, 1944, the son of the late James and Gladys (Ferrier) Collins.
On September 3, 1966 he married Mary Bea Yahr in Flint.
He graduated from GMI in 1967.
Mr. Collins was employed by GM for 37 years, retiring in 1999, allowing him to live a very active hiking life; visited all 50 states and capitols. He toured all but two of the present baseball stadiums and all the older stadiums no longer in use or torn down.
Jerry was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Davison.
Surviving are wife, Mary Bea;
sons, John Matthew and wife Deborah,
Gerald “Jerry” Christopher and wife Ellen;
grandchildren, Hannah, Elijah and Rebekah Collins, Matthew and Erica Collins;
brother, Ronald and wife Johanna;
niece, Rhonda;
nephew, Jim;
aunt, Helen Collins;
longtime friends, Jerry and Sue Sweeney, Joe and Ginny Pauwels;
special friend, John Breitenbach Sr.
