Virginia Rose Smith, formerly of Flint, Fenton & Flushing. Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt went to Heaven on July 29, 2014 at the age of 93 ¾. Virginia was born on October 6, 1920 to George & Goldie Brandenstein in Terre Haute, Indiana. She married Robson G. (Bob) Smith on October 11, 1941 in Flint. He preceded her in death on March 3, 1995. Virginia was a current member of FentonUnitedMethodistChurch. A former member of Flushing Presbyterian Church (Joy Circle) and Community Presbyterian Church (Miriam Circle). She was a lifetime member of Eastern Star-Chapter 138-Flint. Virginia was an adult Leader with the Mott Foundation Story Hour Program. She also enjoyed her many years as a Vogt’s Flowers employee. Virginia graduated from Flint Central-Class of 1938 and for many years coordinated the reunion and get togethers of the classmates. The most recent reunion was in May 2013, celebrating their 75 yr since graduation. She was a wonderful poet, made hair pin lace afghans, sewed over 110 quilt tops for the blanket ministry, made awesome pies and coffee cakes. She was so proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. All of whom were so special to her and provided much pleasure and joy. She especially liked to tell everyone that her son, grandson, grandson-in-law and great grandson are Firemen in Fenton & Flushing. What a party she is sure organizing in Heaven with her parents, Bob, her beloved sister Geneva Butler Strickling and many other family members and friends. She is survived by her children; Roxanne (Hugh) Adams of Pinckney, Kent Smith of Honor, Madge (Brad) Chapman of Florida, Scott (Sandra) Smith of Fenton.Grandchildren; Greg Beckley, Linda (Jim) Michael, Todd (Emily) Smith, Mark Adams, Brad (Teri) Smith, Chad (Shari) Smith, Andrea (Michael) Kehoe. Great grandchildren; Richie Austin, Brett Beckley, Jeffrey Binder, Ashlyn & Rachel Smith, Hunter, Tyler & Kenzie Smith, Vance & Fallyn Adams, Ben & Patrick Kehoe, Sienna & Rylie Smith. Beloved sister, Helen Gearhart Bruce. Virginia also leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins. We all have so many special and happy memories that will forever be with us. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday 11am at the FentonUnitedMethodistChurch, 119 South Leroy, Fenton. Pastor Jeff Jaggers officiating. Friends may visit Tuesday 4-8pm at Temrowski Family Funeral Home, 500 Main St., Fenton. Eastern Star service is Tuesday 7pm at the funeral home.
