Dorothy Ann Henige, of New Lothrop, passed away on July 26, 2026 at Union Court Assisted Living, at the age of 93.
Dorothy was born on August 18, 1932 in Saginaw, Michigan, one of twelve children to the late Albert and Edith (Schlacter) Wendling. She graduated from Maple Grove high school in 1950, and married the love of her life, Lavern Edward Henige on May 1, 1954 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Maple Grove. For 5 years, she worked at the AC plant, before devoting her life to being a dedicated homemaker, and mother. She and Lavern built a wonderful life of faith, love and devotion to each other. They spent 40 years together until his passing in 1993. Even after his death, Dorothy devoted 30 more years to raising their 8 children.
Through all the seasons of life, Dorothy remained dedicated to her family. In her younger years, some of her best friends were her nieces and nephews who were the same age as her. They loved growing up and experiencing life together. She was a loving grandmother and great-grandmother. Always attending the grandkids sporting events, and travelling wherever their sports took them. She was a devote catholic, and was active at St. Michael Catholic Parish in Maple Grove throughout her entire life.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Beverly (Steven) Quaderer, Sharon (Robert) Eastman, Leo (Teresa) Henige, Marvin (Deb) Henige, Stanly (Patti) Henige, Michael (Joy) Henige, and Gayle (Rod) Baryo; grandchildren, Brett (Mary) Yaklin, Ryan (Bridgette) Yaklin, Adam Yaklin, Nicholas (Christine) Quaderer, Lindsey (Chris) Eggelston, Angela (Chris) Norling, Holly (Royal) Chrysler, Robert (Lynette) Eastman, Leo (Michelle) Henige, Jacob (Kate) Henige, Kellie Jo (Mitch) Beldyga, Joseph (Lisa) Henige, Charles (Lindsay Pierce) Henige, Trysha (Andrew) Wolford, Daniel Henige, Maria (Jordan) LaPorte, Michael (Brie) Henige, Ashley (Keith) Rinzema, Brandon (Anna) Baryo, Kristen (Lee Lazarecky) Baryo; 32 great-grandchildren; and son-in-law, Ernie Yaklin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lavern Henige; daughter, Paulette Yaklin; and all 11 of her siblings.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 from 3PM until 8PM with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7PM, at McGeehan Funeral Homes - Martin Chapel. A Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 11AM, with visitation one hour before the service, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Maple Grove. Burial will follow at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery.
