Alyssa Brewington, age 25, of Flint, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on July 5, 2026.
Alyssa leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, determination, and an unmatched work ethic. If "side hustle" had been her middle name, it would have fit perfectly. She believed that if it didn't make money, it didn't make sense, and she poured her heart into everything she did. Whether she was crafting, providing compassionate home healthcare, painting faces at community events, or selling beverages at the Big House, Alyssa approached every opportunity with passion, dedication, and a smile.
Beyond her incredible drive, Alyssa had a deep appreciation for nature, butterflies, and the adventure life had to offer. She loved attending concerts, traveling, camping, and taking spontaneous road trips, always looking forward to making new memories. Above all else, she cherished her family. She took great pride in caring for her siblings and always wanted the very best for the people she loved. Through life's highest highs and hardest moments, Alyssa remained a constant source of strength, loyalty, and unconditional love. She was true to her word, unwavering in her promises, and someone her family and friends could always count on.
Alyssa is survived by her loving mother, Dawn Lazo, and stepfather, Pedro Lazo Jr.; her father, Travis Brewington; her devoted fiancé, Deshawn McClinton; her beloved stepdaughter, Ana'Lysia Baetz; her siblings, Aubrey Angers, Alina Lazo, and Pedro Lazo III; her grandparents, Pete Lazo Sr., Mary Mata, and Tara Brewington; her nephew, Jesse Velasquez III; her niece, Viviana Velasquez; and a special nephew on the way. She is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless dear friends whose lives were brighter because of her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved grandmothers, Dora Ottaway and Mary Fultz, affectionately known as "GG," as well as Andres Molina.
Though her time with us was far too short, Alyssa's love, strength, laughter, and unforgettable spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered—with every butterfly that crosses our path and every firework that lights up the night sky.
Funeral service will be held at 4pm Friday, July 17, 2026, at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Visitation will be held from 1pm Friday until the time of service at the funeral home.
