Age: 76
Community: Grand Blanc, MI

Judith Lynn (Sutherland) Czekai age 76 of Grand Blanc, Michigan passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025. Judy was born in Flint, Michigan on September 16, 1948 to Perry Sutherland and Violet Walters. She was a lifelong resident of Flint, Michigan graduating from Flint Northern in 1966. Judy worked for General Motors, Truck and Bus, for 30 years retiring at the age of 50 years old. During her time at GM she participated in bowling leagues, softball leagues, wrote for the shop newspaper she and a few other ladies started, and could often be found hanging out at Mark's Lounge with her friends from the shop after work. Shortly after retirement she worked odd jobs ending up at Michigan State University for several years in their dining services before finally retiring to care for her husband Zack. Judy was a loyal and dedicated wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She loved to cook, and to entertain family and friends at her home especially around the holidays. She enjoyed gardening, decorating her home, crafting and spending time with her family. She liked to write, often talking about how she wished she had written a book or a song. Judy was a member of the Red Hatter Society for a number of years as well as being involved in a number of women's Bible studies groups years ago. She was an avid runner at one time for many years having participated in the Crim for decades. She enjoyed going to the theatre for both plays and movies. She loved Elvis and the Beatles. She enjoyed traveling, and road trips to Luddington, and Suttons Bay, Michigan as they were two of her favorite spots.Judy married Richard Czekai on June 23, 2012. She was her husband's caregiver for many years during his time of illness until his passing in January 2022 after 23 years together.

Judy loved being a mother and a grandmother. She adored her children and grandson. There was nothing more she would rather do than spend time with them. Judy loved being a grandma to her grandson Brennan often referring to him as her "sweet boy." He was her pride and joy, and you could find her all summer long at the baseball diamond cheering him on. There wasn't anything Judy wouldn't do for her family. She made a friend in everyone she met. Judy was often described as kind and loving. She was a beautiful woman both inside and out. To know her was to love her. More importantly, she was our best friend, confidant, protector, and now she is our beautiful Angel in a sky full of stars. We rest assured knowing she is Home with the Lord, and whole again surrounded by joy and all those that loved her. Judy passed on August 15 the day Catholics celebrate Dormition or Assumption of the Virgin Mary. She was proud of her Catholic faith. We know Zack, Amber and Bandit were waiting to bring her Home. She is no longer in pain. She will forever be missed, and always remembered. Rest easy Momma.

Judy leaves behind her daughter Dawn (Doug) Kiewitt, son Perry Mitru, Jr., and her grandson "sweet boy" Brennan Kiewitt. Judy was the oldest out of ten children. Surviving are her brothers and sisters Loren, Larry, Mike, Deborah, Sheena, Carla, Kim, Don, Jim, their respective spouses and many nieces and nephews. Judy was preceded in death by her husband Richard Dale Czekai, her mother Violet May Walters, and her father Perry Sutherland.
