POLZIN, Phyllis – of Davison, age 90, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Genesys Health Park. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 7296 S. Gale Rd., Goodrich, Fr. Michael Kuchar celebrant. Burial will be in Davison Cemetery. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the Mass on Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities of Flint.
Phyllis was born in Genesee Co., MI on July 19, 1923, daughter of the late Frank and Nettie (Brown) Langley. She married Robert Polzin on July 23, 1949 and he preceded her in death in December of 1973. Phyllis worked for AC Spark Plug during WWII. She clerked at A & P Grocery Store in Davison, GJay Variety Stores then retired from Kmart. Her most fulfilling work was caring for her family. Phyllis had a strong Catholic faith, teaching catechism and was a member of St. Joseph Guild at St. Mark’s Catholic Church. She served at many Catholic Charities, including the North End Soup Kitchen. Phyllis will always be remembered for her big heart and the kindness she extended to all who met her.
Phyllis is survived by sons, Robert Jr. (Brenda) and Roger (Kaylynn); grandchildren, Eric (Jodi), Raine, Kevin and Holly; great-grandson, Evan; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, Harold, Paul, Glen, Stewart and Don; sisters, Bernice and Sara. The family would like to give a special thank you to her friends at Taeckens Terrace, Dr. Valerie Duerr and to the doctors and staff at Genesys Health Park for making her feel so comfortable.
