LOVERN, John R. “Jimmy” – Of Flint, age 82, died Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at his residence.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Harold K. Polk, Jr. officiating.
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery with a military graveside service under the auspices of the Marine Corps League Flint Detachment #155 Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Disabled Veterans.
Visitation 4-8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
John was born in Lovern, West Virginia on June 13, 1931, the son of Aaron and Lottie (Whitt) Lovern.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He married Louise Clemons in West Virginia.
Mr. Lovern retired from GM in 1981.
Surviving are son, Arnold and wife Vanessa of Davison;
grandson, Adam and wife Leasha Lovern of Davison;
granddaughter, Melissa Crotty and fiancé Chad of Shelby Township;
special great-grandson, Cole Lovern;
sisters-in-law, Louise Smith of Flint and Lorraine Lovern of Ohio;
a host of special friends, Audrey, Laura, Ken and Billy.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise.
