BUTLER, Catherine Marie – of Burton, Michigan, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Charter Senior Living of Davison. As were her wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held.
Catherine was born in Flint, Michigan on April 6, 1938, daughter of the late LeRoy and Margaret (Shoultes) Parker. Cathy was the oldest of five children and was instrumental in the upbringing of her four siblings. She graduated from Kearsley High School in 1957 where she participated in field hockey and basketball. She met the love of her life, Wayne Lee Butler, at Walli’s Drive In and they were married on February 6, 1959. They were inseparable for 68 wonderful years. Unwavering support and guidance for her family was her life’s mission. After focusing on her children’s formative years with strong involvement and volunteering, she started her career at Bentley Community Schools in 1975. After retiring in 2000, she dedicated herself to faith and family. She and her husband were members of Atherton United Methodist Church in Burton. Cathy was a wonderful Grandma to her four grandchildren and faithfully attended all their activities. Her strength, love, and compassion built a family foundation that will live on forever.
Cathy is survived by her loving spouse, Wayne; children, Deborah (Norbert) Pirker-Fruehauf and Robert (Leticia) Butler; grandchildren: Erich (Jessica), Todd, Catalina, and Anna; great granddaughter, Elodie; many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by both parents; step-mother, Thelma, and brothers: Charles, Donald, and Calvin.
