William Franklin Brooks was born July 17, 1932, in Desoto Parish, Louisiana. He was the youngest of fourteen children born to Jiles and Jessie (Evans) Brooks. William received his early education in DeSoto Parish, Louisiana. The family later moved to Arkansas, where he continued his education. In Arkansas his favorite teacher was Miss Kitty Tracy.
He was employed at Flint Metal Fabricating Division of General Motors for 51.1 years as a Welder Repairman. He was formerly a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.

William became a new creature in Christ, baptized into Christ at the North Central Church of Christ in November 1981. He immediately became a soul winner for Christ and was on fire for Christ, teaching and sharing the “Good News”. Everywhere he went and everyone he met he would always ask them about their relationship with Christ. He shared the word on his job, at the homes of friends, relatives and where ever he traveled. He attended Gospel Meetings, Lectureships and Crusades all over the United States. He taught his sister Bessie and as a result, she obeyed the gospel and was baptized at the Church of Christ in Rockford, Illinois. He continued to share the word of God even though his health was declining. William and Charlie Moore started the Wednesday Morning Bible Class and the Audio Ministry at North Central Church of Christ where he also taught Karate Class. William loved singing and became a member of the Christian Jubilees, a male gospel group. He was a very generous man, always giving to God, family and friends. He was a generous supporter of Southwestern Christian College in Terrell, Texas. William had perfect credit, always paid his bills before the due date and was a sharp dresser. He loved to cook, his specialty was barbeque and peach cobbler. William will be remembered for his love for Christ, determined spirit and generosity.

He leaves to cherish his memories: Wife, Katherine Brooks, 2 daughters: Tanya Williams Jones of Texas, Drenda (Bill) Knighten of Toledo, Ohio. Step-son, Samuel Hunter of Flint Michigan. Seven grandchildren: Latricia Williams, Marcella Jones, Christon Ballard, Melissa Jones, Kordell Johnson, Darren Ashburn and Joshua Edwards. Several great grandchildren and sister Martharein Brooks Williams of Katy, Texas. He dearly loved and was close to all of his family, nephews and nieces: Including, special nephews, Alphonso Royal and Jacob Hawkins and special nieces Josephine Clark, Remonia Hawkins, and Bertha Stumon. Many special friends and the North Central Church of Christ Family.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jiles and Jessie Brooks, seven brothers and five sisters.
