Age: 97
Community: Grand Blanc, MI

MRAZ, Eloise Marie - Of Grand Blanc, age 97, died Friday, December 29, 2017 at Regency of Grand Blanc.

Eloise was born in Saginaw on December 11, 1920, the daughter of Alfred and Anne Rockwell and was the oldest of 7 children, all who preceded her in death. Her family moved to Flint during the Depression, where she graduated from Flint Central High School. Eloise served her country during World War II, making secret parts at the Tank Plant. Eloise moved to Grand Blanc in 1946, with her husband, Jack B. Mraz, where they raised four children. They were married for 59 years, until his death. Eloise’s life was spent giving to others, and she noted that volunteering was one of the important hallmarks of her life. Throughout her life, she was active in numerous community and civic affairs, including Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Grand Blanc Teen Club, PTA, and the Democratic Party. She was awarded the Volunteer of the Year for multiple years at Mission Hospital in Mission, Texas, where Eloise and Jack lived after retirement from 1972 to 1997, before returning to Grand Blanc. During her retirement, she traveled extensively, seeing Europe, Mexico, Hawaii, Alaska and the continental United States. Eloise lived by and taught her children to live by the Golden Rule. She demonstrated her strong belief in hard work, working at Grand Blanc Schools as a bus driver and a playground supervisor and the Grand Blanc Post Office for years. She was an avid reader, she was fiercely independent and her integrity was impeccable. No doubt, she loved her family, her children Donald, Ronald, Lynette Pruett, Suzette Brooks and their spouses, Sharen, Pam, Ron Pruett, and Mike Brooks gave her 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Eloise’s fingerprints are all over these folks who will miss her wisdom and wit tremendously.

Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack on November 3, 2003, grandson, Patrick Mraz; her parents, Alfred and Anna Rockwell; sisters, Arlene Stasiak, Shirley Merritt and Lois Farmer; and brothers, William Rockwell, Jack Rockwell and George Rockwell.
