CALCAGNO, Paul Arthur – of Burton, MI, age 89, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1 PM Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5199 Richfield Road, Flint, MI 48506; Rev. Fr. Carl Simon celebrant. Interment, with Military Honors, at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 11 AM-1 PM Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice, in Paul’s memory.
Paul was born in Flint, MI on January 18, 1932, son of the late Joseph and Mary (D’Antoni) Calcagno and the youngest of 6 children. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1953. After his honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force, he married Marvene “Franny” Frances Pearce on September 2, 1954 in Oklahoma. Paul and Franny settled in Flint, MI and then moved to Burton, MI were Paul worked for GM at the AC Spark Plug division, retiring in 1996 after 45 years of employment. They were married for 50 years until her passing on November 16, 2004. Paul enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his life, with his brothers, Joseph, Ross, Michael and Jack as well as his sons and nephews. He also enjoyed the game of golf and played it for many years both before and after retirement. In his younger years, Paul was always ready to tackle home improvement projects and was proven to be very handy around the house. He was also a very talented artist who had one of his drawings published in the Flint Journal.
Paul is survived by 4 children, Matthew (Debbie) Calcagno, Andrew (Irene) Calcagno, Mark (Denise) Calcagno and Karen Wright; 7 grandchildren, Tianna (Nick) Christensen, Craig Calcagno, Stephanie (Warren) Crews, Kayci (Darin Hockin) Hamilton, Kali Hamilton, Rachel Wright and Mitchell (Melissa) Wright; 9 great-grandchildren, Damien, Layla, Isabel, Dominick, Isaac, Braylon, Sofia, Ryker and Lukas; 2 sisters-in-law, Gloria Calcagno and Madelon Calcagno; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Calcagno; wife, Franny Calcagno; son, Paul A. Calcagno Jr.; 4 brothers, Joseph Calcagno, Ross Calcagno, Michael Calcagno and Jack Calcagno; sister, Angelena Willing; 2 sisters-in-law, Jane Calcagno and Sally Calcagno and brother-in-law, Hobert Willing.
The family would like to extend a very sincere thank you to Barb, Debbie, Lisa, Helen and Karen, who, for the last 17 years offered care for Paul in his home.
