BARANCIK, Joan L. – of Mt. Morris, formerly of Clio, age 95, died peacefully on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at McLaren Flint. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11AM Friday, October 6, 2023, at SS. Charles and Helena Catholic Church – 230 E. Vienna St., in Clio. Rev. Fr. Kenneth Coughlin officiating. Burial to follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery in Davison. The family will receive visitors at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Thursday from 11AM until 8PM and at the church on Friday from 10AM until the time of Mass at 11AM. A Prayer Service will be held at 6PM Thursday evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Association of the Miraculous Medal.
Joan was born April 7, 1928, in Frankfort, Michigan, to the late Murray and Ruth (Toelle) Knox. She married Charles Barancik on April 10, 1948, they enjoyed many wonderful years together before Charles preceded her in death on October 13, 2001. Joan was a bookkeeper with Lewis and Knopf CPA for 7 years before retiring in 1972. She was a faithful member of SS. Charles and Helena Catholic Church in Clio. Joan enjoyed needlework, gardening, cooking, camping, and reading. Reading and education were very important to Joan, and she instilled that in her children and others by being a former Den Mother with the Boy Scouts and a Girl Scout troop leader. Joan loved the Flint Symphony Orchestra and traveling to Stratford, Ontario in Canada for Shakespearean Theatre.
Surviving are: Daughter, Kathy Howell of Otisville; Sons: Stephen Barancik of Burton, Karl (Kathi) Barancik of New Port Richey, Florida, and Robert Barancik of Clio; Many grandchildren and great grandchildren; Sister, Dolores Braden of San Diego, California; Several cousins, nieces, nephews, other loving family members and dear friends.
