VENABLE, Ethelene – of Mt. Morris, age 91, died Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Cranberry Park Assisted Living in Clio. Funeral services will be held 11AM Thursday, March 1, 2018 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Pastor Dave McGowan officiating. Burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3PM until 8PM and on Thursday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM.

Ethelene was born December 26, 1926 in Lexington, Alabama to the late John and Eula (Jackson) Hooie. She attended school in Loretto, Tennessee. Ethelene married H.T. Venable on December 23, 1945 in Lexington, Alabama. He preceded her in death on January 27, 1981. Ethelene retired in 1987 as a food service professional for Beecher High School after 20 years of employment. She attended Friendship Freewill Baptist Church for many years. Ethelene was very involved with the Krapohl Senior Center in Mt. Morris. She enjoyed quilting, growing flowers, crafts, and rummage sales. She especially loved children and collecting dolls.

Surviving are: Children: Julia (Gerald) Morford, Carl (Sheila) Venable, and Bobby Venable; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; Brothers: Lavon (Agnes) Hooie, Robert (JoAnn) Hooie, and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by: Son, James Venable; Sister, Susie Mae Hooie; Brother, Marshall D. Hooie, and daughter-in-law, Jackie Venable.
