COTTON, Mrs. Joyce Anita-age 59 passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at her residence. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Friday, April 4, 2014 with 10:00 am family hour at Anitoch Missionary Baptist Church 1401 E. Stewart Ave., Flint, MI 48505. Moderator Dr. Lewis Randolph officiating. The final resting place for Mrs. Cotton will be Flint Memorial Park Cemetery, Mt. Morris, MI. Calling hours are 10:00 am -6:00 pm Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Serenity Funeral Chapel.
She was born the first child to the union of Robert Lenoir, Sr. and Gwendolyn A. Lenoir on October 13, 1954 in Westpointe, MS. Joyce accepted Christ at an early age. Joyce graduated from Northwestern High School c/o 1972. On January 26, 1974 Joyce Anita Lenoir was united in holy matrimony to Virgil N. Cotton. In her early years, Joyce was employed at a Citizens Bank and later retired from American General Insurance Agency. At one point she was named Sales Agent of the Year.
Joyce enjoyed traveling, sewing, planting beautiful flowers and gardening. She loved baking pastries and eating smelt! In her spare time Joyce loved skating, dancing and doing the Cabbage Patch.
Mrs. Joyce Cotton is survived by: husband, Virgil N. Cotton of Flint, MI; daughters, Keiwana (Roscoe) Graham of Mt. Morris, MI, Stephanie Cotton of Mt. Morris, MI, Sabrina Cotton of Mt, Morris, MI, Shiri Cotton of Mt. Morris, MI; sons, Virgil D. Cotton of Flint, MI, Vincent Cotton of Columbus, OH; 12 grandchildren, Quintika S. Cotton of Huntsville, AL, Laron C. Cotton, Malik J. Cotton, Rayvon J. Smith, Shakiya L. Delaney, Makiyla S. Cotton, MyAngel V. Cotton, Italy Webster, Isiah N. Cotton, Ahsiyah M. Cotton, Sydney D. Deloney, Jackson C. Mateen all of Flint, MI; 2 great-grandchildren, Joshua J. Wheeler, Nicole L.Cotton of Flint, MI; brothers, Robert Lenoir, Arthur B. Lenoir, Gregory Lenoir; sisters, Nysean (Randy) Crofton all of Flint, MI, Larraine Lenoir of Saginaw, MI, Brandi Gaskin of Gary, IN; aunts, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Dixon and Alice Collins both of Flint, MI; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins including special cousins Patricia Collins, Derrick Collins and Talbert Dixon.
Mrs. Cotton was preceded in death by: parents, Robert L. Lenoir, Sr. and Gwendolyn A. Lenoir; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Doss, Forest and Roza Collins.
