Sheila was born at home in Flint, MI on June 29, 1948.

She graduated from Grand Blanc High School and Michigan School of Cosmetology. She married her high school sweetheart, Jerry Lynn LaFerney, in Mundy Township, MI on July 29, 1966. They had two daughters, Jeri Lynn (LaFerney) Kaupp, and Jodi Diane (LaFerney) Dobbs. They were blessed with four grandchildren: Cameron Grace Kaupp, Cacia Adair Kaupp, Gavin Jameson Russ, Evan Harrison Russ. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, her pride and joy. In fact, her daughters jokingly say she liked her grandbabies more than them! She was a member of Riverdale Baptist Baptist Church. She was very involved in the Genesee County Cosmetology Association and member of their Styles Body Committee. She loved music, dancing, mystery and action movies, and especially classic detective t.v. shows. She loved reading, especially Agatha Christie, bowling, golfing, going to Bronner’s, and going to Cancun, Mexico. Sheila was beautiful inside and out, loving, generous, fun, passionate about her beliefs and often outspoken. She cherished her time with her family and friends. Once you were her friend, you were her family. Sheila especially loved Christmas; was known for decorating her “Christmas House”, and loved to leave the decorations up as long as possible. Jerry and Sheila raised their children in Grand Blanc, and then built their dream home in Durand. Zephyrhills, FL became their beloved second home, where Sheila loved dearly her community and circle of wonderful friends.

Surviving are husband Jerry; children Jeri and Jodi (Jeff); grandchildren Cameron,
Cacia, Gavin, and Evan; brothers John Comer and wife Jan; Barry “Mike” Comer, Kevin Comer; many special nieces, nephews, friends, and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents Daniel and Laura Comer, Al and Grace Semish; sisters, Myrna Lynch, Easter Horton, Sandra Dority; son in law, Keith Kaupp. Family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. David Dotson, Florida Cancer Specialists, Seasons Hospice of Wesley Chapel, Mary Mack, and her other caretakers.

Finally, thank you to Riverdale Baptist Church and the extended prayer chains of family and friends that have showered the family with love, support, and prayers.

In lieu of flowers, family requests that donations be made to the Tunnel 2 Towers Foundation, Wigs for Kids, or any cancer support or POW/MIA charities of your choice.
