GILLESPIE, Richard Gilbert – Of Flint, Michigan, age 86, died Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 18, 2011 in Dobson, North Carolina, Jimmy Tucker, Spencer Edmonds and Avery Branch officiating. Burial in Little Vine Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Carriage Town Ministries. Visitation 2-9 p.m. Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Richard was born in Dobson, North Carolina on October 21, 1924, the son of Richard and Vertie Gillespie and was a resident of Dobson, North Carolina and Flint. On April 23, 1957 he married Barbara Ann Edmonds in York, South Carolina. Surviving are wife of 54 years, Barbara Gillespie; children, Butch and wife Becca Gillespie, Shirley Kendrick; Rick and wife Debbie Gillespie, Belinda and Mark Trudeau; grandchildren, Jaclyn (Tim) Ocenasek, Heather Trudeau, Ashley Trudeau, Rachel Cady, Michael (Theresa) Kendrick, Bridget Villabol and David (Tammy) Holland; there are 11 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; brother, G.W.
