FELICIANO-CORON, Lisa Kaye, of Burton, age 64, passed away July 29, 2026, at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, due to complications from a Double Lung Transplant caused by her long struggle with Scleroderma. Cremation will take place, and a private service will follow at a later date.
Lisa was born in Lancaster, PA on September 2, 1961, to Esther (Terry) Feliciano. She later moved to Old Saybrook CT, where she graduated from Old Saybrook High School in 1979. She married Christopher Robert Coron on July 5, 1990, in Davison MI.
Lisa enlisted in the Unites States Air Force in February 1988 and completed Basic Military Training at Lackland AFB, TX. She received her technical training at Keesler AFB, MS, graduating as an Air Traffic Controller in August 1988. Her first duty assignment was with the 2042nd Communications Squadron in Plattsburgh AFB, NY. It was there where she met her husband, Christopher. Her second tour of duty was with the 24th Operations Support Squadron at Howard AFB Panama where she served in support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm. She was Honorably Discharged from the Air Force in July 1994. She graduated from Mott Community College in 1998 with an Associate Degree in General Studies with High Honors. She primarily worked as a Postal Clerk and Carrier in Flint, Linden and Fenton MI for several years before she was forced to retire early, due to her Scleroderma illness in 2011.
Lisa was so incredibly full of life. When you met her for the first time, you instantaneously felt a sense of warmth and kindness. Her creativity was off the charts. She was extremely gifted at making artwork, sewing patchwork quilts and Raggedy Ann dolls. She loved woodworking, making signs and other wood projects. She loved to draw, paint and create anything with a magical sense of infusing color and often incorporating inspirational phrases or quotes. Her girlfriends called her a “Bad Ass” because she could conquer or make just about anything. Lisa was a nature lover and loved being outdoors, planting flowers and gardening in her yard. She nicknamed her backyard “FEL-COR” Acres, where she felt peace and tranquility amongst the trees, pond, flowers, plants, birds and butterflies. She loved the ocean, sand, seagulls and collecting seashells along the beach. She loved to ride her motorcycle, bicycling, kayaking and enjoyed taking long walks.
She loved Classic Rock music, watching Law and Order on TV, movies, concerts and theater plays/performances. She liked to read and would often write sayings and quotes on numerous post it notes, so she wouldn’t forget them. She enjoyed playing “Banana Peel,” Scrabble and Wordle/Connections with her family.
Lisa was a staunch Women Rights and Civil Rights supporter. She believed in kindness, respect and humanity to all people. Lisa saw the beauty in everything that she saw or touched. She loved her family, her friends, and her pets (especially her Yorkie Lola). She leaves a loving, colorful indelible mark on anyone who knew her.
Lisa is survived by her husband, Christopher; mother, Esther T. Nelson; sister, Lori Feliciano; step-sisters: Leslie Nelson and Emily (John) Rich; step-brother, Edward Nelson, Jr.; brothers-in-law: Mark (Linda) Coron and Stephen Coron; sister-in-law, Elaine Gamel; nieces: Denise Feliciano, Lisa (Bobby) Buffa, Elizabeth (Daniel) Kelsey, Jennifer Sensabaugh and Lindsay (Jarrod) Anderson; nephews: Christopher (Abby) Patti, Jeffrey Patti, Brett (Melissa) Coron, Eric Coron, Barry Gamel and Danny (Dayna) Cummings; great nieces/nephews: Charisma, Lincoln, Joseph, Brynn, Jack, Sean, Lucy, Noah, Zachary, Madison, Evan, Maria, Jack, Thomas, Lillian, Iris, Eli, Talan, Christopher and Cameron; great-great nephew, Graham. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Edward P. Nelson; grandparents: Wilson and Susannah Reed; sister, Teri A. Bennett; step-brother, David Nelson; brother-in-law, Walter Patti.
The family would also like to give a special thank you to the entire caregiver team at the University of Michigan Hospital. Their compassion and care for Lisa during her journey was embraced with sincere gratitude.
