KOPLEN, Gordon LeRoy
Gordon LeRoy Koplen of Flint, passed away on November 14, 2013 at McLaren Hospital, he was 91 years old.
He was born December 27, 1921 to Esther and Roy Koplen of 701 Hall St. (Flats) Flint, Michigan.
A Veteran of World War II serving more than 3 years in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater.
Gordon was awarded numerous medals, badges and meritorious citations in service of his country.
He was a life member of the Free and Accepted Masons, Morning Star Lodge No. 556, F.&.A.M., initiated January 16, 1956.
Gordon was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman.
He worked at the Chevy Plant (down in the whole) over 37 years and retired in 1975.
Gordon was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 70 years, Nora Jean and his great-granddaughter, Cody Leonard.
They have three children, son, Bruce (Janis) Koplen; daughters, Beryl (Steve) Banyas and Cynthia (Remus) Holbrook.
Gordon and Jean also have seven grandchildren, Amy, Sarah, Pam, Kerri, Drew, Mary, Jessica and nine great-grandchildren, Zoey, Kaelyn, Chloe, Sophie, Madison, Harrison, Eden, Gabe and Gio.
Gordon and Jean shared a wonderful life together and our family plans to honor their love by interment of their ashes in a shared funeral ceremony at the Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, MI, Thursday, November 21, 2013 at 2 p.m. Family and friends of the family are welcome.
