Julie Ann Gerace, age 55, passed away unexpectedly on May 11, 2026. Born and raised in Flint, Michigan, Julie was a proud daughter of Dennis and Carolyn Gerace and carried the strength, compassion, and resilience of her hometown throughout her entire life.
Julie graduated from Flint Academy with the Class of 1988, where she was actively involved in volleyball, soccer, and marching band. Her love for teamwork, community, and school spirit followed her far beyond her school years. She especially loved sports, with football always holding a special place in her heart.
Julie dedicated her career to helping others through her work at Hamilton Community Health Network. She had a giving spirit and a heart that naturally welcomed everyone she met. Whether family, friend, coworker, or stranger, Julie made people feel loved, accepted, and cared for. She was the kind of person who would put others before herself without hesitation.
Above all, Julie treasured her family. She was a loving daughter, devoted mother, proud grandmother, sister, and partner whose love knew no limits. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world, and the memories she created with them will be cherished forever.
Julie is lovingly survived by her mother, Carolyn Gerace; her children, DaRron, Ra’ Shon, Janessa, and Donovan; her beloved grandchildren, Caison, Zurielle, Michael, and Red Arrow; her boyfriend, Terral; brothers, Timothy (Becky) and Patrick (Angie); along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, extended family members, and dear friends who loved her deeply.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dennis Gerace, on June 5, 2003; grandparents, William and Irene Gaddes, Richard and Harriet Heller; great uncle and aunt, James Harper and Shelia Johnson; and grandmother, Bobbie Croom.
A funeral service celebrating Julie’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Swartz Funeral Home. Visitation will take place from 12:00 PM until the time of service. Rev. Janine Plum will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Julie’s memory to the Gaddes Foundation and the American Heart Association.
Julie’s kindness, warmth, laughter, and unconditional love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Though her passing leaves an immeasurable void, her legacy of compassion and strength will never be forgotten.
